Incredibly, the S&P 500 Index has now gone a record 395 trading days in a row closing within 5% of its all-time high—just topping the 394 days seen during the mid-1990s. This is huge news! Other than a Brexit- induced single day sell-off in late June 2016, 466 of the past 467 trading days have closed within 5% of the all-time high.

Now that 2017 is in the books, we are moving forward with the first trading day of the new year. The S&P 500 Index was up .83% and the Nasdaq Index was up over 1.50% on the first trading day of 2018.

A total solar eclipse is set to take place on Monday, August 21, and it will be the first one in 99 years that will cast its shadow across the entire continent in what is called a “path of totality.” It will also be the first eclipse since 1776 whose path falls only in the U.S., which is why it has been dubbed “The Great American Eclipse.”
